1500+ mattresses recalled for not meeting U.S. flammability standards

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A group of mattresses sold via Amazon, Walmart.com and Overstock.com (now Beyond), is being recalled because they don’t meet required flammability standards and pose a fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Made in Kosovo and imported by Missouri City, Texas-based Adven Group LLC,  about 1,540 mattresses fall under the recall. The NapQueen 12-inch Maxima hybrid and Bonnell spring mattresses were sold between February and May of this year for between $170 and $350. The recall includes model numbers NQIH12KK, NQIH12QQ, NQIH12FF, NQIH12TT and NQIH12TX.

A single-sided design, the boxed mattresses feature a gray dotted ticking, dark gray 4-inch mesh stripe-and-wave quilted pattern on the side border, and a straight-line quilted pattern on the top. The tape edges are white and gray, and the mattress label, which is sewn into the cover, features the Maxim name, the model name and “imported by Adven Group, LLC.”

The company is offering consumers a free fitted cover to put on the mattress to bring it into compliance with federal flammability standards.

Including this latest event, the CPSC has announced four recalls involving mattresses this year. One involved FXI mattresses with the potential for mold in the product, and the other one involved crib mattresses from Restwell Mattress Factory sold through Room & Board. The other one was for more than 21,000 Classic Brands mattresses that did not meet flammability requirements.
