HIGH POINT – The High Point Market Authority has landed alternative rock band Goo Goo Dolls as the headliner for the spring furniture market, scheduled for April 13-17. The band will play Center Stage Sunday, April 14.
Formed in 1986 by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac in Buffalo, N.Y., Goo Goo Dolls has sold 15 million records, earned four Grammy nominations and produced nearly a dozen platinum and gold singles. The band is most known for its 1998 hit Iris, with other notable singles including Slide, Black Balloon and Better Days. Iris held the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 chart for 18 consecutive weeks.
“I’m delighted to announce the Goo Goo Dolls performance this April at High Point Market’s Center Stage,” said Tammy Nagem, president and CEO of HPMA. “Market guests are encouraged to register early and invite their industry friends to meet up for a very special evening of music, hospitality and camaraderie.”
The evening concert is only open to registered High Point Market attendees. A valid Spring 2024 Market pass is required for entry. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. Early entry for buyers starts at 6:15 p.m. No one under the age of 15 will be allowed entry. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided.
Center Stage is an outdoor event venue situated between Showplace and the Transportation Terminal. Last fall, the market hosted rock band Barenaked Ladies at Center Stage.
