S.C. city gets first Ashley store as Broad River expands Augusta reach

FORT MILL, S.C. — Top 100 retailer Broad River Retail, which owns and operates Ashley stores in the Carolinas and Georgia, held a grand opening for its latest store in Aiken, S.C., on Aug. 29.

Located at 2535 Whiskey Road in the Aiken Exchange Plaza, the store features Ashley’s 7.0 store design and is the Fort Mill, S.C.-based retail group’s 32nd Ashley store. Its 33rd store, in its home base of Fort Mill, is scheduled to open Aug. 30 with a grand opening set for October.

“We are very excited to bring a premier home furnishings and mattress shopping experience to Aiken,” said Charlie Malouf, Broad River Retail president and CEO. “The 7.0 concept is our most innovative design, and we’re bringing Ashley Furniture’s combination of quality and legendary values to this market, which has already welcomed us so warmly. We believe that customers will love this true-to-life floorplan that incorporates colors and lighting that you’d find in many modern households.”

BRR officials believe the Aiken location will build on the success of its Ashley store in nearby Augusta, Ga.

“This expansion reflects our proven track record in the region and our commitment to continued growth and excellence in serving our guests,” said Manny Rodrigues, Broad River Retail chief operating officer. “Broad River Retail and Ashley will continue to offer customers a premier shopping experience at a great value. The Aiken community can look forward to a world-class furniture and mattress shopping experience along with quick deliveries.”

And it will add jobs to the local economy. “Our Memory Makers are the heart and soul of what makes Broad River Retail and our Ashley stores so special,” said Stacey McCormick, Broad River Retail executive vice president of retail performance. “We’re always looking for passionate individuals who bring dedication and genuine care to their roles, helping us continue to furnish life’s best memories for our guests.”

During the grand opening festivities, BRR presented a $1,000 charitable donation to longtime non-profit partner ReStart Augusta, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing beds to children, families, and veterans.

Earlier this month, Broad River held a grand opening for its renovated combination Ashley store and Ashley Outlet in Fayetteville, N.C.
