HIGH POINT — The youngest household members are about to get a trendy new furniture option at retail.
Country music star Trisha Yearwood and Legacy Classic|Modern Furniture are debuting a new youth furniture collection at the October High Point Market, a group with 44 SKUs, a first quarter 2025 ship time and retail price ranges between $499 for a twin bed and $699 for a full poster bed.
“With the success at retail on my Today’s Traditions collection, I felt that it easily transitioned to youth furniture,” Yearwood told Furniture Today. “I am really excited to enter into a new category and have always loved the thought of having a kid’s line. Legacy is a leader in the youth category, so it just makes sense.”
Legacy Classic officials said that the new youth collection offers the appeal of the Trisha Yearwood brand along with trends in the youth category for furniture that is more “sophisticated and design oriented.” Several finishes for the collection are available, including one called Blacksmith, a clean black finish with the grain highlighted for design interest.
“I love simple, elegant designs that are timeless,” Yearwood said. “When you’re talking about furniture for young people, you want it to work well when they’re younger, but also grow with the child. What I love about our new youth line is it follows the lines of my existing furniture and doesn’t get outdated the minute your child becomes a teenager. It’s functional, elegant and works for all the stages of growing up.”
Yearwood reminisced about her own childhood when asked about her favorite piece in the collection.
“It’s the four-poster bed for sure,” she said. “My sister and I shared a room with twin beds when we were kids, and they were just that: a frame, box spring and mattress. No headboard, nothing fancy. If I had had this four-poster in my room, I would have felt super cool. It’s beautiful.”
Chris Pelcher, president, said that the youth category remains important at Legacy Classic|Modern.
“The customer is still out there for youth and teen,” explained Pelcher. “Our retail partners who are committed to the category continue to be happy with the performance. While it’s not going to be the top category on the showroom floor, it’s part of an overall assortment, part of what a furniture customer expects to find in a brick-and-mortar retail furniture store. To be without it is like having a missing piece to a jigsaw puzzle. Add a fabulous brand like Trisha Yearwood Home, and you make it even more compelling.”
Pelcher added that the new collection addresses current consumer demand in the youth category, an important consideration for success at retail.
“Today’s Traditions Youth and Teen feature timeless styling like the adult version,” he said. “Classic Shaker details throughout the collection are what make it so appealing. The collection can be dressed in many ways as the child grows, from youth up through their teens, and even used as a bedroom set in a guestroom.
“The key to developing groups in this category is to create something that can be used in a kids’ room and easily transition into a second or guest bedroom. Our line is packed with collections like this, and TY’s Today’s Traditions personifies that philosophy.”
