Ashley shines spotlight on corporate responsibility, sustainability efforts of 2023


ARCADIA, Wis. – Ashley Furniture touted its corporate responsibility achievements in a recent report, focusing on what the company has done this year regarding sustainability, medical research, charity donations, student education and company culture.

The list is a long one, ranging from delivering 48,000 wreaths with Wreaths Across America, to donating thousands of dollars worth of furniture and mattresses to community organizations across the country, to the many donations Ashley employees made to various organizations such as St. Jude’s and Ronald McDonald House.

Other achievements include:

  • Ashley continues to work with City of Hope on a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, and Heartworks, a non-profit dedicated to treating congenital heart defects.
  • In 2023, Ashley recycled 78,000 tons of wood, 12,000 tons of cardboard, 8,000 tons of polyfoam, 1,000 tons of metal and nearly 500 tons of plastic.
  • Ashley planted more than 760 trees along with Legacy-Trees, LLC. Trees were planted in Arcadia, Wisconsin and in neighboring cities.
  • Ashley for the Arts generated nearly $700,000 for 70 local non-profits. 3,000 volunteers took part in the event, including 400 Ashley employees.
  • For the holidays, Ashley gifted food or money to its 17,000 employees.
  • Ashley gave $70,000 to robotics educator FIRST Robotics in 2023. It also gave $226,000 to VEX Robotics, which runs robotics programs for kids K-12.
  • More than $158,000 was given to SkillsUSA chapters around the country. For National Manufacturing Month, Ashley hosted 860 students to tours of its facilities.

In addition, Ashley stayed focused on sustainability efforts throughout 2023, including fuel-efficient fleets; a recently purchased fully-electric yard truck; 8 million square feet of white membrane roofing, enabling easier cooling in summer and easier warming in winter; and a company-wide solar panel installation initiative. In Pennsylvania, Ashley says it has one of the largest single rooftop solar installations in the country.
