WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Bay Street Manufacturing, the owner of HealthGuard, has acquired Florida-based CKI Solutions.
HealthGuard specializes in residential and commercial sleep accessories, and CKI Solutions, founded in 1996 by Sam Montross, CEO, is also a bedding accessories company supplying retail and hospitality segments.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The challenging part of selling our profitable company was to match the sale with a company who would continue the integrity of CKI Solutions, ensuring the customers, employees and suppliers would benefit from the growth under the new owner,” Montross said. “Besides the ability to replace some overseas goods with quality Canadian and U.S.-made products, the most important factor was finding management who embraced the same sincere attitude of developing long term relationships instead of just quick sales revenue.”
The acquisition coincides with HealthGuard’s push into the U.S. retail market and will help roll out that strategy.
Ryan Cleary, vice president of sales for HealthGuard, said the company recently opened distribution in the U.S. retail market and is currently working with Original Mattress Factory, and it is on track to onboard additional bedding and top 100 retailers later this year.
Founded in 1991, HealthGuard produces mattress and pillow protectors, pillows and sheets, and Cleary said the company has a significant foothold in its home country. Expanding into the U.S. makes sense, he said.
“It is the largest market, and we see a lot of growth there,” he said. “Our early inroads into the market are promising and the acquisition of CKI will help continue that growth.”
Cleary said the company will continue to serve the hospitality segments that have become CKI’s primary focus and layer on HealthGuard’s range of product offerings.
