Dining furniture supplier bets on marble, while rightsizing showroom

Vilo Home will focus on marble dining for Market. Shown here is a set with swivel chairs, with five-pieces retailing for $599.

HIGH POINT – Low-to-mid-end case goods and upholstery supplier Vilo Home has an array of new product planned for the coming High Point Market but with a strong focus on both real and faux marble.

“With real marble, you get a great real table, but the pieces are often big so you’re really only getting the consumer with lots of space,” said Robert Sala, company president. “Faux marble on the other hand, while less expensive, gets you that couple who just moved into an apartment.”

Pricing on faux marble is about 50% less than real marble. Sala estimates that a round marble dining table and four chairs will retail for around $699, while a similar set with faux marble will retail for $399.

Vilo will introduce six new dining sets, two new bedrooms and six new TV stands this fall. The company is also intentionally downsizing its showroom, Sala said. Vilo will still be in the Centers of High Point on Hamilton, but in 3,000 square feet instead of 6,000.

“When I was new to this, I wanted to show our whole lineup, but product really ended up getting lost,” he said. “Now I’m only focusing on quality over quantity and only showing what’s new and what’s hot.”

Vilo is also heading to market with a bigger warehouse space in Ontario, Calif. The new spot is 70% larger, allowing for more inventory.
