Former Baer’s executive, Ronald Lieberman, passes away at 78

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Ronald Lieberman, the former vice president of marketing and merchandising at Baer’s Furniture, passed away on Nov. 13 at the age of 78.

Lieberman started in the family furniture business, the Ohio Furniture Co. in Columbus, Ohio, at age 7. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1969, and in 1982, he moved to Florida, where he held management positions at retailers Modernage and Carl’s before joining Baer’s in 1998.

In 2009 Ronald Lieberman was named Distinguished Retailer of the Year by the Florida Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.

“Ron was a true leader and has always been very professional in the furniture industry for decades. His friendships, mentoring, accomplishments, kindness, love and respect will be remembered by so many, especially the Baer family,” said Bobby Baer, chairman of the board for Baer’s Furniture.

Lieberman is survived by his wife Sharon, two sons and four grandchildren. The family suggests donations may be made in his honor to Lovingkindness Vietnam.
