This project started as many of my more ambitious projects do. I was in my youngest daughter’s room, telling her good night, which led to me staring at her big, blank wall. I suddenly jumped up and started taping off vertical lines and playing around with a design. This is how I began hand painting a patterned wall.
If you look closely, you can see that it’s far from perfect. In fact, one of my kids asked “if they were all supposed to look different.” (Ugh.) It’s good to remember when tackling a project like this, you’re going for overall impact–not precision. (It’s also good to regularly remind yourself that you’re saving a lot of money by not buying wallpaper.)
