Here’s what Hooker’s buying team found at the May Interwoven Textile Fair

HIGH POINT — Many upholstery trends start at Interwoven and offer a sneak peek at what retailers will see at the next market. For the May edition of Interwoven, the biannual fabric and leather show held in High Point and hosted by the International Textile Alliance, buyers were looking for ways to warm up their showrooms and offer retailers new options for consumers.

Furniture Today caught up with the Hooker Furnishings buying team including Caroline Hipple, Sandi Mowry, and Dixon Bartlett during the show and learned more about what buyers might see in a few months.

“The Hooker teams were busy at Interwoven looking for trend right and fabulous leathers and covers,” said Caroline Hipple, chief creative officer. “We saw several consistent patterns, moods and colors emerging.”

According to Hipple, color palette evolutions are almost instantaneously shared across the world courtesy of social media.

“The colors from Europe are finding their way across the pond, and we are all experiencing those same influences,” she said. “So what were the color stand-outs? We saw lots of sagey and mossy greens combined with autumnal colors of orange and raspberry. We also saw a teal, blue green paired with brassey gold, ochre and turmeric.

Sage green and a complementary palette were among Culp introductions at Interwoven.

“While boucle may be everywhere, it still is fresh and there are so many different constructions, high, low and everywhere in between,” Hipple continued. “Floral prints show off a nod to nostalgia. And coastal seaglass and white always pleases. Sophisticated plaids also give a sense of cozy nostalgia. Leathers are colorful and gorgeous, embossed, sueded, nubuck, and even performance, and all seem to tell a great story.

Carrie Dillon, managing director for ITA, said that attendees at the Interwoven Textile Fair remained optimistic despite the challenging business environment.

“Textile designers strive to present inspiring new fabrics to buyers, aiming for freshness,” Dillon noted. “The goal is for the textile and leather introductions from the May show to resonate with consumers when they hit retail floors in spring 2025, ideally amid improved economic conditions.

“Through our partnership with FS (Fashion Snoops), members are empowered to tailor their collections to align with key trends in the home market. FS curates trend galleries for each show, showcasing ITA members’ fabrics that exemplify four distinct trends: Fresh Coast, Outlands, Equilibrium and Sanct for Spring/Summer 25. Attendees at the show are inspired by the gallery and have access to comprehensive trend reports for each theme, encompassing color palettes, usage insights, mood inspiration and video resources.”
