If there’s one thing I can’t stand in my woodshop, it’s building organizers. Yes, you heard that right. While I thrive on the challenge of creating beautiful, functional pieces from raw materials, the idea of spending my time making storage solutions just doesn’t cut it for me. I like to be organized, but I’d rather be building anything else.
Enter my metal rolling toolboxes. These handy helpers are my saving grace. They come with tons of storage space, and the best part is that I didn’t have to make them. These toolboxes are like a gift from the woodworking gods. They keep my tools and materials perfectly organized, letting me get straight to the fun stuff—building, creating, and just plain enjoying my time in the shop. On top of it all, the rolling toolboxes were cheaper than the plywood alone!
The best investment I’ve made for my woodshop in a while is a 3D printer. This little gadget is a game-changer. It’s like having a personal assistant who specializes in making custom storage solutions. Need a drawer divider? Print it. Want a bespoke tool holder? Print that too. The 3D printer handles all the nitty-gritty organizing tasks, so I don’t have to. That printer has been running almost every day since I got it.
Sure, I could design my organizers from scratch, but why reinvent the wheel? There are tons of amazing designs available for free online. All I have to do is download one, tweak it a bit, and print. It’s like magic! With all this extra time, I can focus on jobs like writing, teaching, and trying new things with wood.
Who has time to get bogged down in building storage solutions? By using ready-made solutions and my trusty 3D printer, I keep my shop tidy without sacrificing my precious time. These tools let me focus on what truly matters—creating and enjoying my craft.
While I appreciate a well-organized shop, I’m more than happy to leave the task of building organizers to those who find joy in it. My metal rolling toolboxes and 3D printer have revolutionized the way I manage my workspace. They allow me to stay organized and keep doing what I love without any unnecessary hassle. For me, this is the perfect balance between order and creativity. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some exciting new projects to dive into!
