Kids in 2 Northwest states get a boost from Hope to Dream

TAMPA, Fla. — Hope to Dream, which provides beds to kids in need in the U.S. and Canada, made a pair of donations to organizations in the Northwest.

In Portland, Ore., Hope to Dream donated 100 beds to Every Child Oregon, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in foster care. This partnership aims to ensure that every child in Oregon has a comfortable and restful sleep environment.

Also, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Hope to Dream celebrated its first year of working with Sleep in Heavenly Peace with a donation of 1,000 mattresses. Sleep in Heavenly Peace shares in Hope to Dream’s mission of providing beds to children who would otherwise go without. Together, they have created a powerful alliance focused on delivering a good night’s sleep and a sense of security to those most in need.

In April 2024, Sleep in Heavenly Peace built and delivered its 200,000th bed. Hope to Dream and local Ashley stores have supplied more than 8,000 beds towards this achievement over the course of the partnership.

“We are thrilled to mark the fifth anniversary of our partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace by donating 1,000 mattresses,” said Ruthie Bautista, vice president of Hope to Dream. “This is a testament to the unwavering commitment of both organizations towards improving the lives of children across the nation. Our shared dedication to ensuring every child has a safe and comfortable place to sleep has been the driving force behind this successful collaboration.”

“We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing partnership with Hope to Dream,” said Luke Mickelson, founder and head of development of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “This donation of 1,000 mattresses will go a long way in helping us continue our mission of ensuring no child has to sleep on the floor. Our shared dedication to improving the lives of children in need has been the key to our success, and we look forward to continuing this impactful partnership in the years to come.”

Every Child Oregon mobilizes the community to uplift children and families impacted by foster care by providing life changing resources, empowering community volunteers, and raising up new foster (resource) families in Oregon. The donation of 100 beds from the Hope to Dream program will benefit children in the organization’s care, providing them with a sense of comfort and security during their time of need.

“We are honored to collaborate with Every Child Oregon and provide much-needed support to children in foster care,” said Bautista. “We believe that every child deserves a safe and comfortable space to rest and dream. Through this donation, we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of these children and show them that they are valued.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Hope to Dream for this significant donation,” said Oscar Sweeten Lopez, executive director of Every Child Oregon. “A good night’s sleep is essential for all children, and this contribution will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. Providing a brand-new bed speaks dignity, worth, and value over children experiencing foster care and shows they are deserving of a comfortable night’s sleep.”

Through the Hope to Dream organization, children in need are provided with a brand-new bed, complete with a mattress, bedding, and a pillow. The organization’s mission is to create positive, long-lasting effects on children’s lives by offering them a better night’s sleep and the opportunity to thrive. A portion of every mattress purchased at participating Ashley stores helps Hope to Dream provide beds to children in need.
