NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Kirkland’s Inc. has reshuffled its board of directors, re-electing Ann Joyce and appointing her as chair, while accepting the resignations of two board members who failed to receive majority votes during the company’s annual meeting June 26.
Joyce, who has a background in retail with fashion brands Chico’s and Areopostale, will oversee the board, which has been reduced to six members from eight. Joining the board for the specialty home décor and furnishings retailer is Amy Sullivan, president and CEO of the company.
“Ann is a respected retail industry executive who has worked closely with the management team as we have developed and executed our strategy to usher in a new chapter for Kirkland’s,” said Sullivan.
Exiting the board are R. Wilson Orr III, former chairman of the board, and Steven J. Collins, neither of whom received a majority of the votes cast by shareholders. Both offered resignations, which were accepted by the board.
Other actions taken at the annual meeting included amending the company’s equity incentive plan, ratification of the appointment of independent auditors and an advisory vote to approve executive compensation.
Kirkland’s operates 328 stores in 35 states under the Kirkland’s Home brand and sells through its website.
