Marge Carson makes its return to High Point; seeks to bring back ‘opulence’ with new line

HIGH POINT – High-end furniture case goods and upholstery supplier Marge Carson will return to Market next week with a new furniture collection, which features dining and occasional items.

Highlights of the line are the Charlotte dining chair, which features hand-carved wood detailing and a rounded back, and the Charlotte vanity chair, which is meant for use at a bathroom vanity or dressing table. The Cleo bench features classic styling and is suitable for use at the end of a bed, in a foyer or as additional seating in any room. The company says it pairs well with its Palo Alto collection, which has customization options ranging from traditional to contemporary.

Each piece of the line is custom-made with several options for finishes, and more than 750 fabrics, trims and embellishments can be selected from. The line is designed to bring back the “opulence” the brand is known for, the company said.

The 75-year-old Marge Carson announced it would cease operations last October, after its owner and CEO Jim LaBarge announced he was going to focus on his health. A month later, the company was acquired by Linly Designs, a Chicago-based luxury interior design firm.

It resumed production in January and has since been producing its entire catalog of custom upholstery, upholstered beds and occasional furniture. The company manufactures out of its 68,000-square-foot facility in Tijuana, Mexico.
