Massachusetts retailer closing after 53 years

GARDNER, Mass. — Templeton Furniture here is closing after 53 years in business, as its owner is retiring. Bruce Duguay, who founded the medium-to-high-end retailer in 1971 with his father-in-law, Roland LeClerc, is closing the business at the end of October according to a report from The Gardner News.

Duguay told The Gardner News that the current economic situation and the collapse of the local furniture manufacturing industry were factors in his decision. Years ago, he had promised he would keep the business open as long as LeClerc was alive. LeClerc passed away in June.
