Rugs America, Badgley Mischka expand lineup with washable rugs

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Rugs America has launched its first machine-washable area rug collection in partnership with the designers from Badgley Mischka, an extension of the partnership first initiated last spring.

The rugs are digitally printed in China on a plush micro-fiber base. The company said that due to its boxed packaging, the new rugs help to streamline inventory management and reduce shipping costs.

Badgley Mischka Whitley Collection Deck and Developments WF1 SM[99]“It’s foldable, it does not crease, and it has a non-slip back,” said Ariel Hakimian, Rugs America co-owner. “It is not a zero pile, we do have a soft, textured pile on the rug. Both the 5×7 and 8×10 sizes come boxed, and they are shelf or pyramid ready.”

Consumers have provided feedback that rug cleaning is one of their major pain points, so the machine-washable feature allows busy households, pet owners, and design-conscious buyers to more easily maintain the rug, according to the company.

Based in Farmingdale, Rugs America is a manufacturer and importer of area rugs established in 1994 by the Hakimian family. The company offers hundreds of designs and thousands of SKUs out of warehouses in Farmingdale and High Point.
