Simpli Home steps up sustainability efforts with new packaging

TORONTO – D2C e-commerce furniture retailer Simpli Home is expanding its sustainability initiatives by adding eco-friendly packaging to all products, a move the company says aims to step up environmental efforts and move toward a greener future.

The new packaging includes 100% recycled and biodegradable paper, replacing traditional polyethylene foam with a sustainable protectant and using new non-woven wrapping materials that are also recycled and biodegradable. Simpli Home is also switching to honeycomb cardboard instead of Styrofoam for corner protection.

“Our top priority has been to shift towards eco-friendly practices, with sustainable packaging at the forefront,” said Yoram Weinreich, CEO of Simpli Home. “Our goal with these changes is to set a benchmark for clean and environmentally responsible packaging in the manufacturing industry.”

Simpli Home, in addition to the packaging switch, will collaborate with environmental organizations such as CleanHub, which focuses on plastic waste collection, and Evertreen, which plants trees for every purchase made on the company’s website.

“This packaging shift not only highlights our dedication, but also demonstrates our various efforts to remain true to our mission of sustainability, one shipment at a time,” said SimpliHome CMO Darcy McGilvery. “With almost all of our manufacturers now converted to 100% eco-friendly packaging, we are on track to achieve our plastic-positive goal within the next few years, if not months.”
