I have a really easy tile tree collar DIY just in time for the holidays, and it requires NO tile cutting. It is a quick project with great results, and you will want to make these tile Christmas tree holders for all your mini trees!
To begin, you will need:
- Large square tile
- Super Glue (I used Gorilla’s Micro Precise Super Glue since it works on porous materials like tile).
- Hot Glue Gun
You will be making a box with one open end.
Lay the first tile flat – I went pretty side up, but it doesn’t matter since the interior won’t be visible. Glue a tile to either side and stack books on both sides to keep the tile straight. I added glue to the tile on the bottom and the tiles I added for extra durability.
Glue the first two tiles flush – across from each other.
It is very important that your tiles are straight as you move on to the next step.
The next two tiles will sit on top of the bottom piece and be inside the other two tiles. Add glue to all three sides of both tile pieces and hold in place.
There will be a little bit of a gap along the top since there is no cutting of the tile. However, once the tree is in place, you won’t notice the gap.
For added strength, I added a strip of glue using a glue gun down the interior sides and along the bottom.
A few minutes later, I had this adorable tile Christmas tree holder!
You can add felt pads if you’re concerned about scratching your furniture – I would use super glue to adhere to those so they don’t fall off.
I added foam to the inside of my box. I removed the tree stand and stuck the tree pole into the foam.
And that is it! You now have a beautiful tile Christmas tree holder!
