Twin Star recalls nearly 15,000 electric fireplaces for fire hazard


BOCA RATON, Fla. – Indoor and outdoor home furniture supplier Twin Star has recalled more than 14,000 electric fireplaces sold exclusively at Lowe’s.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Twin Star and Lowe’s received 24 reports of overheating, fire or smoke incidents relating to the recalled units. There were two two reports of property damage, but no reported injuries.

The recall involves the company’s Style Selections Black Infrared Quartz Electric fireplaces, which are 42 inches wide and run at 5,200 BTUs. They were manufactured in Vietnam between September 2021 and January of this year and were sold at Lowe’s stores and at Lowes.com for around $200. The model number is 42HF295FGT, and date codes are 0521; 0322; 0422; 0522; 0622; 0722; and 0822.

“Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug the recalled electric fireplace and contact Twin-Star for a refund of the purchase price,” the CPSC wrote. “Consumers should complete the online recall registration form at www.twinstarhome.com/recall or call Twin-Star for information on how to take part in this recall.”
