Which company won top design honors from CDG?

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Mobi Furniture’s Versus collection was selected as the winner of the 2023 Edward Haimsohn Design Award during the Contemporary Design Group’s annual conference here on Dec. 2.

The award was accepted by Planum Furniture, Mobi’s U.S. agent. Designed by A. Rasit Karaaslan, the Versus collection uses natural materials and organic forms, combined with a contemporary aesthetic. Pieces from the collection have sleek, solid wood legs with options for slatted detail, interior cabinet lighting and marble or ceramic tops.

First runner up was the Scott Keramik table by Cattelan Italia, designed by Studio 28; second runner up, Linq bedroom by BDI, designed by Matthew Weatherly; and third runner, the Reuleaux occasional table, designed by Bruce Andrews for Charleston Forge.

The Edward Haimsohn Design award recognizes manufacturers producing outstanding and original furniture designs. A panel of anonymous judges, consisting of CDG retailer members, evaluated nominees on originality, creativity, consumer appeal, use of materials, functionality and manufacturing execution.

Other finalists included Dolomitas table by Uultis, Ema Night table by Mobican, Killian rug by Feizy, Le Beaumont seating by Trica, Mesa credenza by BDI, Mona seating by Thayer Coggin, Ripple credenza by BDI and the Vooom chair by Via Seating. A lookbook of all entries and a video of the complete presentation is available now on the Contemporary Design Group website.
