HIGH POINT — High-end furniture designer and manufacturer Adriana Hoyos is making its first foray into the great outdoors.

Given that company’s roots date back to 1994 in Ecuador, it might come as quite a surprise that casual is such a recent addition to their line. Less surprising is where the new line gets namesake. The Amazonika collection, on display at High Point market, is inspired by the tropical rainforests which dominate Ecuador’s lowlands.

Carla Palau, innovation and development creative leader for the brand, told Furniture Today that the company is thrilled to bring this new offering to High Point.

“This is a milestone for us and for the team, because previously we focused only on indoor furniture,” Palau said. “Our design customers told us that they wanted to reflect the connection that exists between indoor and outdoor spaces using our product, so this transition is our answer: We want to create that seamless connection.”

The Amazonika collection includes a full range of living, conversational and dining pieces, all using seiki solid wood.

“This is an uncommon wood for this (application), but we are very happy with it. We’ve done tests on it for over a year,” Palau said, adding that it offered a good alternative to teak while still maintaining a very high end look.

Both the living and seating lines are extensive. The living set includes a sectional, sofa, loveseats, chairs and a variety of accent tables that all feature a Dekton porcelain top.

The company says that the use of carbon-neutral materials like Dekton is key for Amazonika. “The connection to nature is more than just the design inspiration, our rainforests and protecting them guide our company,” she said.

The same Dekton top is found in the dining range, which includes square, rectangular and round tables, along with side and arm chairs.

Palau adds that Adriana Hoyos’ design buyers have praised the indoor look of the entire collection.

“Outside in the new inside, right? Yes it’s a trend, everyone is doing it, and this is our take on it. It makes sense for our brand to really lean into that take on outdoor.”

Adriana Hoyos’ High Point showroom is located in the International Home Furnishings Center, space IH-205.
