Benjamin Moore goes with a mid-tone shade for its 2024 color

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. —Blue Nova 825 is Benjamin Moore’s Color for the Year for 2024, a blend of blue and violet that “sparks adventure, elevates and expands horizons,” according to the paint company.

“Blue Nova 825 is an alluring mid-tone that balances depth and intrigue with classic appeal and reassurance,” said Andrea Magno, color marketing and development director at Benjamin Moore. “The Color Trends 2024 palette tells a story of duality, juxtaposing light against dark, warm and cool, showcasing complementary and contrasting color pairings. These contrasts invite us to break away from the ordinary to explore new places and collect color memories that shape the hues used in our homes.”

Announcing its space-inspired color during a live video appearance from Blue Origin’s orbital launch site in Cape Canaveral, Fla., Magno said the color choice took months of research. “It was the cooler colors that had this depth, this intrigue, that we were drawn to. We felt it was the right color to bring to our customers,” she said.

In a June interview with sister publication Home Accents Today, Magno said the paint company’s annual color of the year is chosen from its existing palette of more than 3,500 colors. It is not formulated specifically as a Color of the Year but selected because its fits with the popular zeitgeist.

Benjamin Moore said it partnered with Blue Origin and its nonprofit Club for the Future to inspire and mobilize future generations about STEM education and careers in the space industry. The organizations will reimagine design at local community hospitals and create space-themed experiences at upcoming events, among other projects.

In addition to Blue Nova, Benjamin Moore unveiled a color palette for the coming year that includes White Dove, Pristine, Topaz, Teacup Rose, Honeybee, Regent Green, Antique Pewter, Polar Sky and Hazy Lilac as well.

Benjamin Moore is one of the last color authorities to declare a color of the year for 2024. Sherwin Williams also choose a blue tone, called Upward, though it appears considerably lighter than Blue Nova. Behr Paint went with Cracked Pepper (black), Dutch Boy selected a dark olive tone called Ironside, and Glidden choose a light buttery shade called Limitless.

Pantone typically announces its color of the year in December.
