HIGH POINT — Outdoor furniture companies showing at the recent spring High Point Market were looking to capture the attention of furniture retailers and interior designers eager to step into the consumer-popular category.
When the pandemic struck in 2020, consumers turned to all things home, and updates to outdoor living spaces were among areas that many focused on during lockdowns. The trend toward outdoor living remains strong, and several mainline furniture companies, including Hooker Furnishings and Universal Furniture, have jumped into the segment.
According to a survey conducted last year by the International Casual Furnishings Assn., consumers are spending more time outdoors at home than they did in the prior year. On average, consumers spend nine hours a week outdoors compared with seven hours a week reported in the prior year.

In High Point, companies that make their biggest introductions during the July and September Casual Markets in Atlanta, were showcasing colorful designs, outdoor offerings that mimic indoor styling and helping dealers fill in product as the consumer selling season for the category kicks into high gear.
Lane Venture added the BeSpoke collection of upholstered outdoor seating to its mix allowing consumers a custom option of three upholstered chairs, three arms and two back cushions. Products in the lineup are available in the company’s quick delivery time frame.
Brown Jordan updated its iconic Walter Lamb rocker in hip new frame colors to match is curves and long-lasting polypropylene in an array of hues for fun outdoor rocking.
