This was an easy closet makeover and the perfect weekend project.
This post is a sponsored post by Dutch Boy®Paints I take pride in reviewing only products that fit my brand and will benefit my readers. While this post is sponsored, all the opinions are my own.
My boys share a room and a closet, and I haven’t touched their closet since we moved in over ten years ago. It needed a huge cleanout (they’ve accumulated a lot of stuff in the past decade), but the paint had yellowed and needed a refresh.
Here’s a before and after:
Yes, it’s only paint! Can you believe the difference?
You probably already know that I’m a huge fan of Dutch Boy paint, and I’ve used it in my library, primary bedroom, dining room, and kitchen island.
When I began this project, I pulled out my Dutch Boy fan deck and looked through all the gorgeous color options.
I decided to go with a sophisticated shade of green, and gave the boys the following options:
- Promenade Gray 422-4DB
- Niagra Valley 422-5DB
- Limestone Slate 422-6DB
The boys chose the gorgeous color Niagara Valley 422-5DB.
I used Platinum® Plus Interior Paint & Primer in eggshell for the walls and Platinum® Plus Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint in semi-gloss for the trim and shelving.
Projects Made Simple
I LOVE the Dutch Boy Platinum Plus line of paint. The Platinum Plus Cabinet, Door + Trim Paint is so durable, and I love that it’s water-based and makes for easy cleanup.
The Platinum Plus Interior Paint + Primer offers amazing coverage and saves time since it requires fewer coats of paint.
Thanks to the paint and a little time, it looks like the boys have a brand new closet – AND, the entire project only cost $120!
- The boys decluttered and donated and/or moved things into the attic.
- The paint was $80 in total.
- The other $40 was spent on a full-length mirror.
- I rounded up all the black hangers in our house to make it look more cohesive.
- I added a rug I had previously used in their bathroom.
This is the perfect weekend project. So grab some paint and update those closets!
