Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Assn. raises $150K for cancer foundation, honors Old Brick CEO

HAMBURG, N.J. — At its recent 2024 golf outing and dinner celebration, the Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Assn. raised nearly $150,000 to support the Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation (DMCCF), which helps families who need direct financial support as they cope with expenses associated with cancer treatment.

Michael Fiacco, CEO of nine-store Old Brick Furniture, Albany, N.Y., was presented this year’s Simon Kaplan Distinguished Leadership Award at the dinner.

“This recognition was well-deserved,” said Chris Clarizio, GMFA board member and president of the Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation. “Michael continues to grow his business despite challenging economic conditions. Like Simon Kaplan, he leads by example, embodying the outstanding qualities that Simon Kaplan demonstrated while leading his Value City Furniture NJ/Ashley Furniture Team.”

The event was held at the Crystal Springs resort in Hamburg, N.J.
