Here’s how 11 retailers and brands are getting ahead of Labor Day sales


HIGH POINT — While the Labor Day weekend is still a couple of weeks away, some furniture and bedding retailers are already getting the jump on what is usually one of the biggest sales weekends of the year.

The following represents a sample of what’s out there already, as many more retailers besides these are running major promotions.

On its website, Top 100 retailer Mattress Firm is touting its “best sale of the year” with deals including king beds at queen prices (up to $700 in savings) plus free adjustable bases on select mattresses; up to 60% off on select queen mattresses with prices starting at $169.99; and savings up to $700 on select adjustable Tempur-Pedic mattress sets with $300 in instant gifts.

Top 100 retailer Raymour & Flanigan is offering savings up to 30% off items in its Labor Day promotion.

Top 100 retailer Williams Sonoma’s West Elm and Pottery Barn brands are both offering up to 60% off select products.

Top 100 retailer City Furniture is kicking off its Labor Day promotions with up to 20% off.

Ashley stores, many of which fall under one of several Top 100 groups, are offering no interest for 60 months for qualifying in-store purchases made with an Ashley Advantage Synchrony credit card at participating locations. For online shoppers who use the card, Ashley is offering 36 months of special financing on qualifying purchases of $1,999 or more.

Top 100 retailer Morris Furniture is promoting up to 50% off storewide with 0% interest for 24 months and pay only $1 per month for the first three months.

Top 100 retailer Steinhafels is offering 60-month special financing as well as savings of up to $800 on bonus buys and closeouts.

Direct-to-consumer bedding brand Avocado Green Mattress kicked its Labor Day sale off Aug. 13 with up to 20% off all mattresses, up to 50% off suvin-and-hemp bedding and fleece lounge and organic cotton collections, and several other offerings, such as pillows and furniture at 10% savings.

DTC retailer and mattress maker Purple is offering up to $1,000 off a mattress and base while Casper’s headline promotion is 30% off all mattresses.
