Iowa furniture retailer completes corporate office remodel

URBANDALE, Iowa — The two-year corporate office remodel for Homemakers, a retail brand owned by Nebraska Furniture Mart, was recently finished late this fall, following the completion of showroom renovations.

Consistent with Homemakers brand, the corporate office design mimics the recent updates made to the showroom.

Inspiration for the project was gathered after touring other newly built or remodeled facilities in the metro area. The new space features a more open design and allows room for continued company growth.

The final office space includes additional finished square footage, a rooftop patio area, an indoor café and other spaces to encourage an environment of collaboration.

“I speak for everyone when I say how excited we are this project is complete,” said Jason Merschman, assistant vice president. “Homemakers’ aim is to provide exceptional experiences for our customers and employees. With the new showroom updates, we’re offering an even greater shopping experience for our customers. And now, with our newly remodeled corporate office, we’ve also created an exceptional environment for our employees to enjoy for years to come.”

Homemakers was founded in 1974 by Carl and Ina Merschman and was acquired by Nebraska Furniture Mart, a Berkshire Hathaway company, in 2000. It continues to be operated and managed by members of the Merschman family.
