TIFFIN, Iowa – Homemakers Furniture, an Iowa-based furniture retailer that has grown to become the state’s largest, will open a new store and showroom in Tiffin, a city in the eastern part of the state. The expansion will create 200 new jobs.

It’ll be strategically located just a mile north of I-80 off I-380 between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Construction begins this year, with a grand opening slated for 2028.

The new store will feature a 200,000-square-foot showroom showcasing a wide range of furniture styles and home décor. It will also fulfill sales from its own warehouse, allowing customers to pick up their furniture same-day or choose curbside or home delivery.

The new store will offer various positions, including management roles, interior design consultants, sales professionals, delivery drivers and warehouse staff.

“We are thrilled to introduce Homemakers Furniture to Tiffin, providing residents with the same outstanding selection and service that has established us as a trusted name in home furnishings for 50 years,” said Roger Merschman, company president. “Since 1974, we have proudly served Iowans and remain committed to our core values of integrity, service and community involvement as we expand.”

“This moment represents a turning point for the City of Tiffin, ushering in an exciting new chapter of opportunity and continued progress for our vibrant and growing community,” said Tim Kasparek, Mayor of Tiffin.

Homemakers turned 50 years old last year. It’s a family-operated company, today being run by second- and third-generation members of the Merschman family. It was acquired by Nebraska Furniture Mart in 2000 and is part of Berkshire Hathaway.

Homemakers operates a flagship, 215,000-square-foot store and showroom in Des Moines.
