Kips Bay showhouse returns to New York’s Upper East Side this May

NEW YORK — The 49th Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York will take place at 125 East 65th St. on the Upper East Side this May.

Designed in 1904 by Charles Platt, an architect who also designed homes for the Roosevelts and Astors, the four-story, neo-Georgian-style red brick home is approximately 12,250 square feet, with six fireplaces, over five bedrooms, and a 35-foot wide garden, Kips Bay said. It has been home to such residents as publishing magnate Henry Luce and Dr. Frederic Reed, a founder of Columbia University’s Department of Physiology.

Opening to the public May 2, the event also serves as a fundraiser for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

“We are thrilled to return to New York at the heart of creativity and our community,” said James Druckman, president of the board of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. “This annual celebration of design not only transforms spaces but also transforms lives, supporting the invaluable programs that empower and uplift the youth in our community. We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and commitment to building a brighter future for the children we serve.”

The participating designers for the show house will be announced at a later date.
