CHANDLER, Ariz. — Bedding technology startup Ensven has rolled out the third iteration of its Ensven Modular Bed Rocker, a device designed to transform any rigid-frame bed into a rocking bed.

The Ensven 3

The company says that the Ensven 3 aims to improve sleep quality by replicating a gentle side-to-side motion, backed by research showing its benefits for insomnia, slow-wave sleep and overall health.

The Ensven 3 supports beds ranging from baby cribs to California King frames, as well as medical and hospital beds, with a load capacity of up to 1,200 pounds.

Company CEO Lisa Viani told Furniture Today that the new version was developed due to considerable demand and requests from users for new features.

“We received lots of feedback from users about things they wanted added,” she said.  “We also did our own research and development to improve things we thought needed to be better.”

New features include enhanced motor performance, expanded compatibility for unusual bed designs and new customizable rocking modes. Users can control the device through a smartphone app or onboard buttons, with automatic activation for restless sleepers.

Viani believes that Ensven could be of interest to bedding and furniture retailers.

“Ensven could be shown in bed and furniture stores,” she remarked. “The rocking motion is unique, and as we know, there is nothing out there that creates this experience and adds a new dimension to generally static furniture products for the bedroom.

“While we don’t have a formal to-the-trade program, we have worked with organizations that do resale and offered them special terms,” Viani added.

The company says that the rocking motion leverages findings in sleep science that show external oscillations can help transition the brain from wakefulness to deep restorative sleep. It also reports that earlier versions have been helpful for individuals with wide-ranging conditions including insomnia, autism and cerebral palsy.
