Sixpenny celebrates its ‘sleep and play’ focus with 6 new product intros

NEW YORK — Direct-to-consumer furniture brand Sixpenny continues to build out its sleep sofa offerings with the addition of three sleeper chaise sectionals, while also adding three swivel chairs to its mix.

The sectional configurations are being offered in the company’s Neva, Devyn and Aria models in poly linen, cotton linen, cotton velvet and recycled faux fur slipcovers. All feature a layered foam mattresses quilted in the brand’s Pacific Pearl cotton linen fabric. The sectionals start at $6,699 for the Aria and Neva and $6,799 for the Devyn.

Rob Natale, Sixpenny’s chief of design, explained that the sleepers fit with the brand’s website refresh that is focused on two new categories: sleep and play.

“Sleeper sofas in general, and sleeper sectionals specifically, were products within our industry that we felt we could improve on, so we spent time working on the quality and build of three elements: the sofa, the bed and the mechanism,” he said.

“What we wound up with is a premium sleeper offering that compromises on none of the above, and the expansion into sectional configurations allows for even more comfort and flexibility in spaces that require it.”

The Gabriel is one of the new swivel chairs from Sixpenny.

Also new to Sixpenny’s portfolio are the swivel chairs: the rounded-arm, pillow-backed Elias; the sleekier, contemporary Gabriel; and the minimalist, yet cozy Ziki.

“With our launch of the “play” category — items designed with nursery spaces and playrooms in mind — swivels and gliders were a straightforward way for us to introduce our slip-covered sensibility to new parents and their children’s furniture,” said Natale. “What’s special is that we’ve done this while maintaining the elegance and craftsmanship of our full assortment. The added bonus for swivel chairs is that they work just as wonderfully in a living room or lounge setting, so their uses are almost never ending.”

Elias and Gabriel, which start at $1,599 and $1,499, respectively, offer slipcover options ranging from cotton canvas and washed cotton velvet to thread-dyed cotton linen and recycled faux fur. Ziki can be ordered with cotton canvas, cotton linen, thread-dyed cotton linen or medium-weight linen covers, with prices starting at $1,499.
