Spring Air banking on explosive growth in health, wellness for new collection


WOBURN, Mass. – In a move designed to take advantage of the pending “explosion” of the health and wellness category in the U.S., Spring Air International will introduce a mattress collection designed with a high copper content to help create a healthy sleep environment.

The three-model Sleep Copper by Spring Air features NatuVerex, a cooling cover knitted with a patented yarn with copper. The company says the fabric offers 30% more copper than other copper-infused products. Studies have shown that copper offers anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties.

Nick Bates, president of Spring Air International, said the company’s timing to roll out Sleep Copper is no coincidence, as he believes health and wellness is on the verge of “exploding” and mattresses have an important role to play.

“There have been numerous scientific studies that talk about the health benefits of copper,” Bates said. “As the health and wellness trend continues to grow in importance, we wanted to provide an offering for consumers who believe that copper’s properties can positively impact wellness and their overall wellbeing even while they sleep.”

Other mattress brands have rolled out copper-rich products in the last couple of years.

Two of the Sleep Copper mattresses are smooth-top hybrid models with waterfall-style covers and are available in firm, medium and plush. Rounding out the collection, the third mattress features a traditional, quilted Eurotop design. All of the mattresses feature Spring Air’s Back Supporter spring unit with encased coils and are priced to retail from $1,599 to $2,599 in queen.

Dressed in contemporary covers with black borders and copper accents, Bates said the collection is “an eye-catching fresh take, and in fact, the natural next step, in Spring’s continued expansion into the hybrid category which continues to grow in popularity among consumers.”

Spring Air will be supporting the Sleep Copper collection with a new marketing campaign through social media and will be offering retailers a co-op advertising program.

“Our goal, as always, is to ensure that our dealers have the right product at the right time with the right marketing story to stand out in their marketplaces, and Sleep Copper checks every single box,” Bates said.

The collection will make its debut at next month’s Las Vegas Market.
