Star Furniture picks retail veteran to lead store ops

HOUSTON — Star Furniture, part of Top 100 Berkshire Hathaway’s furniture division, announced that retail veteran Rodney Watson has been appointed director of stores.

In this role, Watson will spearhead all showroom activities for the Houston-based retailer, which has 10 stores in four key Texas markets. Watson, who brings more than three decades of retail experience, will oversee staffing, cultivate customer relationships, drive sales performance and ensure the attainment of financial targets across all Star Furniture locations.

“Rodney will be a dynamic addition to Star Furniture’s leadership team,” said Richard Jones, Star Furniture president. “His extensive experience and innovative approach will undoubtedly elevate our sales professionalism and propel us to new heights of success.”

Watson’s recruitment aligns with Star Furniture’s overarching management strategy initiated by CEO Jeff Cohen in June of last year, emphasizing operational efficiency and unparalleled customer experiences.

Prior to joining Star Furniture, Watson held key leadership positions at renowned retail giants, including Best Buy and Ultimate Electronics. At Best Buy, he served as marketplace director and general manager in Oklahoma City, where he demonstrated remarkable prowess in devising effective sales strategies and fostering leadership development.
