Stuck in a color choice conundrum? Sherwin Williams has an app for that

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Sherwin-Williams has introduced a new AI-powered app which aims to simplify the color selection process for designers and DiYers by choosing paint colors easier and removing some of the guesswork.

The new Sherwin-Williams Color Expert app leverages the company’s color data and expertise to provide personalized color recommendations. Users can upload an image of their space, and the app analyzes the existing colors in the room, such as those on furniture and artwork, to suggest complementary paint colors.

In addition to providing personalized color suggestions, the app allows users to visualize more than 1,000 available colors in their space instantly. It also offers features to order free color chips or purchase Peel & Stick samples directly through the app. Users can save their favorite colors for easy reference and access the full Sherwin-Williams color catalog, including expert picks and trending colors.

Sherwin Williams Director of Color Marketing Sue Wadden noted the difficulties many homeowners face when selecting paint colors.

“Homeowners who love design and doing their own projects tend to struggle when it comes to choosing the perfect paint color,” she said. “On average, they consult 10 or more touchpoints before committing to a color, indicating how overwhelming this process can be for them.”

The program is available for download now on major app stores.
