Weekend Reading 1.19.25 | Centsational Style

Hello friends, happy weekend to you. It’s been a few weeks…. what a somber start to the year reading about all the fires near LA, we have friends and family down there and the stories are tragic. We had our own catastrophic wildfires in Northern California back in 2017 and now watching these recent fires in the Pacific Palisades is heartbreaking.

My son left for college this week, so I’m adjusting to his absence. He’s the baby. He took the fall semester off to get some work experience and postponed his college admission because he didn’t feel ready. I’m proud of him for making that decision. He left a few days ago and the house is so quiet. I miss my kids so much but I know that they’re expanding and growing in this phase of life being away at university and it’s good for them. And the good news is, they always come back as more mature versions of themselves, it’s nice having adult children. 🙂

Work is going very well for me, I have a lot of cases assigned to me, they’re all different. I’m still learning civil litigation, it’s different than criminal prosecution and it’s only been three months. The office I work in has a lot of nice people and the work is fulfilling, I’m enjoying it. I travel around the state for appearances or depositions in different jurisdictions once a month which is nice since I’m an explorer at heart, and I get to see parts of California I haven’t seen.

We have a lot of projects to tackle around our house this year, I’ve mentioned them before. We’re adding new carpeting in all the upstairs bedrooms and upgrading our kitchen countertops swapping the cracked and chipped marble for quartz. We’re also updating the shower in the primary bathroom and replacing all of our interior doors. I’m even considering having the house painted, I’m in love with the creamy white stucco facade on this home and I’d like mine to look the same.
