American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame acquires trademark


HIGH POINT— The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame has secured trademark registration from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The move comes as the organization expands its services, exhibitions and educational programs in the lead up to High Point Market next month, protecting it against unauthorized use and infringement.

“As a museum and educational organization, this is a significant step in establishing our growing exhibits and programs as a museum operator. Obtaining a trademark for our name underscores our deep commitment to preserving the integrity of our brand,” said Steve Rusing, president of the Hall of Fame Foundation board of directors and executive vice president and president of U.S. sales for Tempur Sealy International.

Rusing also looked ahead to the Hall of Fame’s plans for the upcoming April market.

“We will open three more permanent exhibits at the April High Point Market and will dedicate the Wanek Family and Ashley Furniture Industries gas-burning Eternal Flame in front of the building,” he added.

The organization opened a new 25,000-square-foot building  at 311 S. Hamilton St. in High Point in April 2023, featuring a variety of permanent, traveling and special exhibitions related the home furnishings industry. The Hall of Fame Building also serves as a hub for the industry during markets, holds educational programs for students and is available for business meetings and other social events throughout the year.

The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation was founded in 1988  by a group of home furnishings executives aiming to preserve the heritage of the industry and honor its leaders.
